why would you read the app-length description of a character you saw on a meme and were curious about tagging?? fair question, here's the nuts & bolts

pros: loyal, determined, charming, resourceful, clever, creative

cons: aggressive, stubborn, hotheaded, impulsive, self-destructive, short-sighted

the short of it: Bond is an agent who works for the British intelligence agency MI6, aka the secretive part of the government that deals with international threats to national security. The main focus of that hook is that this means Bond has a legal license to kill any enemy targets, potentially even ones he wasn't told to kill, and his government will back him up (or fire him/take said license away, which he's been threatened with before). This has the exact effect on his already-sky-high pride levels that one might expect.

Bond is immensely loyal to the people who act as his bosses and superficially loyal to his country as a result of this. That said he clearly does this line of work because, as he says himself, he "didn't feel like [he] had a choice". Bond is not someone driven by morals, he is someone driven by what he's good at, and what he's good at is killing people and chasing adrenaline.

He can be superficially charming and has been accused in different words of being a bit of a sociopath, though this clearly isn't the case. Bond desperately wants something to be loyal to, although he also will change loyalties quickly if given other options (he leaves MI6 in half his movies to go be with the girlfriend-of-the-film). Despite not being driven by morals, he clearly has emotions, both good and bad, and his relationships - platonic and romantic - are the main way we see any tenderness or vulnerability from his character.

what's this mean for interacting with him?: Bond is someone who's driven by in-the-moment emotions and challenges. He's not quite a hedonist, despite all the fancy drinks and pretty women; it's more accurate to say he craves sensations and adrenaline. He can and will get attached to other characters if the situation is right (if they work together, if they're mysterious enough/fight back enough that he feels drawn to them, etc). He can and will argue with other characters, as well - he's overall more stubborn than friendly. Having a magnetic personality isn't always a positive thing.

In brief, he might not overall be a good man, but Bond will go to the ends of the earth (and risk his own life several times over - and the lives of any bystanders) for someone he is attached to.

general things enjoyed

• realistically unpleasant interactions; fights, arguments, furniture-breaking, bad judgment calls, you name it
• realistically unpleasant but tender attempts at repairing after stupid fights, arguments, etc
• character growth
• slow-burn friendships
• lots of different character types would be good with bond, but i'm especially interested in foil characters (ones with similar principles but different ways of getting there; ones not impressed by his bullshit; basically anyone who falls into the 'no hero to his valet' trope for bond; characters with significantly better or worse morals)
• action & aftermath of action
• horror (chiefly psychological; not a huge fan of gore but not shy about injuring characters to up the drama)
• h/c in both directions
• exploring bond's substance use disorder
• just generally exploring darker subjects than you usually can approach strangers for on memes, honestly
• banter during action or on its own

ooc permissions

backtagging always appreciated; my speed will vary due to my irl schedule.
threadhopping only in texting threads
fourthwalling not unless it's canon for them (ie deadpool)
off-limits no triggers or squicks, and i'm actually a sucker for horror, should that ever be relevant

physical contact always okay oocly. bond has a lot of background in both fighting and in having sex with people he isn't dating (or even necessarily likes), so touch is an odd subject here - it happens a lot and means very little. he will accordingly have a variety of reactions to being touched, most of which will involve turning it into flirting or turning someone down. feel free to unbalance him with genuine, nice touching; just be prepared to potentially spook him.
mental contact always okay oocly. bond won't like it at all, but fortunately for us i love drama. okay with all manner and levels of telepathy so long as we discuss it a bit first - if it's more fun for him to be able to give some successful resistance, that's cool with me; if not, also cool.
fighting/injury always okay oocly. bond is very well-versed in fighting and can take a beating, but he's ultimately only human, and i'm ultimately only here for things that are fun to write, so he won't win all fights he gets into. okay with rolling for hits, just taking turns, or discussing outcomes oocly first.
death probably not.
shipping This writer is not currently interested in shipping or romantic tension! Please engage with other aspects of this character. o7

warning that bond comes packaged with potentially sensitive topics, none of which i'd generally throw at someone un-warned, but here's a quick rundown so you can opt-out/etc if you need to: he's got a history of substance use disorders (alcohol & pain medication), one could argue that he sleeps with people under false pretenses/to get things he wants, he's killed lots of people, and he generally can make some incredibly selfish and/or harmful decisions. i like tackling darker issues, so if any or all of that is fine with you, also feel free to let me know that, as well.
